Safeguarding Children, Safeguarding Staff

Please be advised that the ‘Safeguarding Children, Safeguarding Staff’ seminar on Tuesday 7th July has now been postponed until later in the year. If you wish to be advised of the new date, please email your details to us at contactus@naes4besd.org.

Tuesday 7th July 2009 - Kings College London, Strand, WC2R 2LS

The safety and well-being of children and staff in the school environment is a complex and highly sensitive issue. With a substantial range of guidance available, it can be difficult to extract and understand the key issues and how best to apply suitable processes.

The ‘Safeguarding Children, Safeguarding Staff’ seminar from engage in their future brings you the opportunity to understand and negotiate this maze of guidance in a simple, straightforward manner. You will leave the seminar confident in the knowledge that every key element of this issue has been considered and addressed.

Why should you attend?

  • Learn how to interpret and apply the guidance issued by government on the issue of child and staff safety in the school environment.
  • Understand what processes can be installed to ensure you, your staff and the children are safe.
  • Acknowledge the potential pitfalls and problems and know how to avoid them.
  • Benefit from the knowledge and expertise of the speaker, Bernard Allen.
  • Participate in an open discussion intended to provide you with the opportunity to raise queries specific to your school’s circumstances.
  • Receive a copy of Bernard’s book ‘Safeguarding Children, Safeguarding Staff’.

Bernard, a former Head Teacher, has substantial experience and expertise in this area. He has been an expert witness in court and worked as an advisor to the Government so is well placed to provide support, direction and clarification on this issue.

Who should attend?

  • All school leaders.
  • Colleagues who are responsible for a department or groups of front line staff.
  • Colleagues who are working within the context of challenging behaviour and special needs.
  • Colleagues who are working within a school or environment where pupil behaviour is presenting an ongoing concern.

As an organisation of specialist Leaders and Head Teachers working in BESD, engage in their future is ideally placed to offer guidance and advice on issues that are relevant to this area of education. It is able to offer a wealth of experience and expertise to all colleagues across numerous issues.

‘Safeguarding Children, Safeguarding Staff’ is the first in a series of engage in their future Best Practice Seminars. The programme will include sessions on a range of relevant and topical issues. Make sure you visit our website for updates on the content and date of our next seminar.
